Today’s Gospel reminds us of the importance of helping others and sharing our resources with one another. At this time of the year, I am humbled by the generosity of so many of our parishioners who donate and/or help with the Giving Tree, St. Vincent De Paul Society, and our many other ministries including supporting the capital campaign. Thank you for your gift of time, talent, and treasure.
It gives me great pleasure to announce that on Friday afternoon our Give Back to the Lord in Thanksgiving campaign reached a total of $ 2,525,086 in pledges and gifts. This total represents 52 % of our overall target. What is even more impressive is that our current total is from the first 244 gifts. The average gift to the campaign is $10,348.
Our parish campaign will succeed if each family is provided an opportunity to make an informed, prayerful decision regarding their participation in Give Back to the Lord in Thanksgiving. Our campaign volunteers are working hard to reach out to each household in our parish. Already, in just a couple of months, our volunteers have visited with 300+ families, and over 80% of those families have made a generous gift to our campaign.
As you know, our parish promotes the teachings and practices of Christian stewardship as a way of life. Many individuals have grown in their understanding and acceptance of the intimate relationship between authentic discipleship and stewardship. Within the context of Christian stewardship and for the future well-being of our Church, this Give Back to the Lord in Thanksgiving campaign was initiated.
While our early success is most encouraging, there remains much to do as we have over 3,000+ households in our parish. We can still use the assistance of parishioners who might be interested in being a campaign visitor. Our next meeting for volunteers will be in January. Please contact Janice at the parish office if you are interested in volunteering. Training will be provided.
