Why a pledge? Any commitment is easier to make if we know we can do it over time. We buy homes and cars and make many other commitments this way. By making a pledge, individuals are able to contribute at a greater level than would be otherwise possible with a one-time gift.
Why is my request different from my fellow parishioners? This campaign seeks gifts of equal sacrifice, not equal amounts. The aim is to challenge donors, in accordance with their ability, to consider a sacrificial gift. Proportionate giving is the basis for one of the principles of stewardship.
Why have I not yet been visited? Our hope and expectation IS to personally make contact with our entire parish family, all 3,100+ households. However, we are limited by the number of volunteers who are making these visits and the challenge of reaching fellow parishioners due to disconnected numbers or unreturned calls. We are truly sorry if a campaign volunteer has not yet contacted you. Our volunteers have sent postcards with their phone numbers to the parishioners they are trying to reach in this phase and they have written personal notes to set up meetings to offer them an opportunity to pledge their support. If you are unable to financially support the campaign, please let the volunteer know you decline so we can make note of it on your card. Above all, we ask for continued prayers for the success of the campaign.
Why are we not hosting the Gala this year? We would like everyone to focus on the campaign and not to tax parishioners’ finances with various fundraisers. If we all pull together and focus our stewardship efforts on the campaign, we can fund all three projects which will benefit everyone in the Holy Cross Community.
We will be hosting a
St. Joseph’s table in March in order to encourage fellowship within our community just as the parish picnic did this past fall.
