Next weekend,
February 1/2, is our monthly collection for the
Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry. Current needs are shampoo/conditioner, deodorant/antiperspirant, prepared/boxed potatoes, ramen noodles, boxed pasta, and sandwich or snack size baggies. Since 2001, food prices have risen about 2.6% a year. When money is tight, food is one of the areas families cut back. The food pantry helps families by: 1. Rescuing food and household goods from our local grocery stores; 2. Receiving donations of items and cash from local churches and food drives; 3. Purchasing supplies from Northern Illinois Food Bank where $1 can buy $8 worth of food; and 4. Purchasing other needed items from Aldi, Walmart and Dollar Tree. Most of the work at the pantry is done by volunteers, which means that financial contributions go where they are needed - to provide nutritious food and warm clothing for our Batavia neighbors. Thank you!
